Schizoids-ThemeWIP.mp3

This is my first work in progress of 2011! Based on an antagonist from the rpg game I have been working on, the theme of this theme is creepy dissonance. I use a drawbar organ patch to amplify creepiness, with a timpani and contrabass background. The is also a de-accelerando and accelerando to make a brief pause in melody take a bit longer. Then the suspended cymbal transitions into an off-chorale of creepy proportions. I will keep everyone posted on the progress of this piece.

TheSomberRain.mp3
Here is a piece that I have started today. I feel that this song is important for my forming portfolio and for the game. This is a piece that will be played in battle (supposed to drag down the player). Please enjoy what I have so far on it. I will definitely post a finished product in a week or so, depending on how motivated I am.

This piece was created with the goal of using a melody that is passed between multiple instruments. I especially like the ground rhythm in this. It uses a simple eighth note bass line with a fast sixteenth note overlay for the first several measures. This piece would be one of my best pieces and I hope that the game this will go with gets finished.

Epic Attack WIP 7-12-10

This work in progress was the result of my determination to create a piece in 6/8 time. All of my previous attempts almost sounded to mechanical and not musical so, when I started work on this piece I decided to use a ground rhythm that was simple. The piano, strings, and Timpani form the ground rhythm. The piano plays quarter notes while the strings play half notes. The first of these are accented such as to define the beat to the listener. Also, the timpani is used to build the piece up, giving it a subtle intensity.
